Long Time, No Update

Wow, the clock strikes 2013 and Kelli disappears from her blog. Not really though. I'm here. and overextended, but I'm here. I can’t even begin to tell you how busy we've been.

Christmas was a blur and the boys got WAY too many toys. Before Christmas we cleaned out their toy boxes and the toy room to donate and make room for the new toys and I feel like it’s already time to do that again.

Chris and I don’t normally do “gifts” for each other. He is the kind of guy that is SO UNBELIEVEABLY hard to shop for. He wants something (within a reasonable price range)? He goes out and buys it-he doesn’t wait for the next big gift giving holiday to roll around. So I gave up and we don’t do gifts any more. But for Christmas, he surprised me and bought me a new sewing machine. Like a really nice new sewing machine. I think I’ve used it every day since. I love it!

Made reversible holiday basket liners for my mother in law by creating a pattern off the one and only liner she already had (it came with the basket when she bought it). They turned out awesome and fit perfect!

Making lots of adjustments on pants that don’t take into account that my boys have no butts.
Made a new cover for our “old as the dinosaurs, but still working” heating pad. That turned out really good too and very soft.

The end of December I transferred to a new position in the company that I work for. Between new management and drama, it was time for me to change things up and take in some new "scenery". And I couldn’t be happier. Before, I was busy every now and then and only on certain days. But then I had days where I was finished with my work by 10 or 11am, which made the rest of the day pass extremely slow. It was excruciating just watching the clock tick as I slowly died of boredom. To top it off, my shift was 9am to 6pm, which meant I wasn’t getting home til after 6:30p, which also meant we weren’t eating dinner til almost 8p. It made for very late nights and super cranky people in our household. There were days when I was seriously questioning how much my job was worth to me, versus my family time and happiness. But now, it’s almost as if I have done a complete 180. I work from 7:30 to 4:30p (sometimes 8-5)every day which gives me more free time with my family. I’m telling ya, the difference that hour and a half makes on my life is incredible. I get along very well with the 3 other girls in my department and my manager. And I am busy ALL. DAY. LONG. I WANT to go to work every day because I feel like I’m needed. Plus it came with a monetary increase and gives me the option as a salary paid employee to get overtime if I want it. This was a huge change for me and so worth it. My days go by in what seems like the blink of an eye. (I seriously can’t even believe we are almost into the middle of February.)

January was a little rough for us. Within a 3 week time frame, all four of us got the flu. I got it the worst. I haven’t had the flu since I was in highschool, and I literally felt like I was going to die. I’d had it for a couple days and just when I started feeling better, the very next day it hit me 10 times worse. I can’t remember the last time I was on that many meds. An inhaler, liquid codine, mucinex, prescription ib profen and Tamiflu. I was GONE-not in my right mind at all. So I can honestly say I am grateful that month has come and gone. So grateful for my in-laws that took care of my boys a good portion of the time I was sick.

Boys got bunk beds in January also. We thought the reason why Cody wasn’t sleeping thru the night was because he was in a bedroom by himself. So we moved him into Clay’s bedroom with the new bunk beds and new Avengers bed sheets. It worked for about a day. :/

We're slowly getting better...and up to our normal shananigans.

February so far, has been pretty uneventful. Except for Cody. Last week, Cody had a severe ear infection which hasn’t entirely gone away yet, on top of a small head cold. And yesterday we found out he is asthmatic. He will go back into the dr for further evaluation and possible testing to see just how bad/serious it really is and they are considering a daily medication to keep it under control. Sigh. Poor thing. Still in happy spirits despite the rough time breathing.

Can’t wait til Spring. Seems like we don’t get sick near as bad or as often when the weather warms up.

Too Close For Comfort-Part 2

Islands of Adventure

Fritz catching his own kind of hot air balloon ride.

My dad thought it was so clever that he bought all the grandkids Rudolph noses, complete with a blinking light inside. They liked to see each other wearing them.

The boys and their hats they found.
Clay got some cool shades, that were sadly broken by Cody the next day.

Surfin' the waves
Face Painting
"Venom"
"Wonder Woman"
Happy Faces

Loved Dr. Suess's "Grinchmas" and "Whoville".

Such a cheeser! You have to tell him to "show me your teeth!" to get a good smile out of him.
Stylin little dude

More hats...

Not really sure what kind of hat this is...
My favorite childhood character, Grover.

Thursday, late afternoon, Chris left to go home. He had to work the weekend at his second job and wasn't able to get all the time off. I was a little sad but sometimes you do what you gotta do, right?

Recovery Day

Friday, was kind of our day to relax and recoup. We were so tired from park hopping the previous 4 days that we all really needed to just sit still for a moment. Plus we had lots of packing to do.

Ayden is obsessed with Woody's (from Toy Story)hat. He puts it on everything, including his little brother Kayson.
Mom and Kayson
Mom and Cody

Aunt Erin and Cody
Gifts from Aunt Melba, Uncle Joel and Aunt Patti.
Dr. Seuss/Chalkboard placemats

Cody was so interested in Clayton's super hero book.
Aunt Patti made me a beautiful quilted christmas ornament.
Decorating a Ginger Bread house.

It looked pretty good...til it collapsed. So we ate it.
We did facial masks. We needed to be beautiful for the end of the world. :)
Saturday, we had to be out of the Tiger house by 10am. So after packing and cleaning up after ourselves, we left and headed out to lunch with my Grandpa.
This is where Fritz was found the morning we had to leave.
I'm not sure why the boys were so fascinated with this stuffed fox. (this was at the restaurant where we ate lunch with Grandpa and Grandma Phyllis.

Clay doesn't get to see him very much but he just LOVES his Great Grandpa. He wanted to sit next to him and hug him and had to tell him everything he could think of. Every year my Grandpa gets a new Hess vehicle-he collects them. Sometimes my dad gets it for him, sometimes he picks it up himself. Well this year my Dad bought it for him and gave it to him at our lunch on Saturday. But apparently Grandpa had already gotten the one for 2012-2013. So he turned to Clay and gave it to him. It was like he had given Clay the world. His eyes lit up and you couldn't wipe the smile off his face for the longest time.
At the airport getting ready to go home.
The flight home was crazy annoying. With two hyper little boys? Yea, very tiring. However, I was grateful that I wasn't the woman sitting in front of me with 3 hyper boys and a husband that was completely passed out sitting adjacent to her, offering no sort of help or relief. I was so happy to be off the plane and going home.

Every year my mom gets us all a christmas ornament to remember our family vacation by. This Mickey/Santa Belly was our ornament this year, and by far my favorite.

We had a fantastic Christmas vacation. I love being with my family and it's always so sad to leave them. I'm so very grateful though to my parents for all their hard work and generosity. For giving my kids wonderful, wonderful memories, and ones that I certainly can not afford on my own. Thanks Mom and Dad. We love you and miss you already!!
